While many associate the Orff approach with the playing of instruments, there are so many ways for children to be creative musicians. This workshop will highlight a host of ways that teachers can utilize body percussion in their classrooms. This allows teachers with a small budget to incorporate the Orff approach. Additionally, it enables students to make music on their own, meaning the walls of the music room are no barrier to making music.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Meg Tietz teaches K-5 music at Bay Elementary School in Seabrook, TX. Meg completed her Masters Degree with a concentration in Orff Schulwerk at the University of St. Thomas in 2009. She is an active presenter for local and national workshops and conferences and teaches Orff Levels at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, and The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Meg is the current president of the Texas Gulf Coast Orff Chapter.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Andrew Ellingsen teaches elementary music and works as an instructional coach in Decorah, IA. He earned his B.A. at Luther College and his M.A.M.E. at the University of St. Thomas with a dual concentration in Kod\u00e1ly and Orff Schulwerk. He has served on the OAKE national board, a committee for AOSA, and has held leadership positions in state and regional organizations for both Orff Schulwerk and Kod\u00e1ly. Ellingsen teaches in the Orff Courses in at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and has presented at both OAKE and AOSA national conferences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
